AVID High School Cohort Information. What is AVID? The mission of AVID is to close the oportunity gap by preparing all students for college and career readiness and success in a global society. AVID is a system of teaching and learning that provides students with strategies for success while encouraging  the students to engage in rigorous classes. In grades 6th - 12th students are enrolled in an AVID elective class each semester. these are known as cohorts. The AVID elective class provides students with the support they may need to be successful in honors, AP, or dual enrollment classes. How do you apply to be a part of an AVID cohort? Teachers will nominate students for AVID 10/2-10/13. Students/ Parents may self-nominate 10/16-10/20. Use the QR code if you ar ein 8th-10th grade. Nomination/ Application process. Once a student has been nominated he / she will receive an AVID application to complete. Applications will be due by 10/31. In November students that submitted an application will participate in an interview.
