Cherokee County SD: Cherokee County declared a state of emergency Friday evening. The majority of our citizens are awaiting restoration of power and crews are working tirelessly. We encourage people to take necessary precautions during this time of recovery.

A CITIZEN HOTLINE has been set up 1-864-487-2587 to report damages and to get information on food, water, and shelter. Road clearing is still in progress. Citizens are urged NOT to attempt to remove trees tangled with

power lines. Report such instances to SCDOT at 864-489-2844.

Cherokee County SD: Food and water distribution sites will open at 10 am - 5 pm Monday and Tuesday (after Tuesday TBA). Instructions: Follow entry directions, do not get out of the car, volunteers will load. We do not want to block traffic on major roads.

-Blacksburg Location (Broad River Baptist Church, 419 W. Cherokee St.)

Please enter W. Lime Street (beyond Food Lion) off of Hwy 29, follow W Lime St. to S. Charleston St., turn left and then right into the church parking lot. Exit onto Hwy 29.

-Gaffney Location (Midway Recreation Complex Parking Lot, 580 Twin Lake Rd.)

Please enter Overbrook Dr. onto Twin Lake Rd. and follow directional signs into the parking lot.

Cherokee County SD: Temporary Shelter

Kirby Memorial Baptist Church (512 Chandler Drive in Gaffney)

Current needs that can be met at the Kirby Memorial Baptist Church:

-This is a safe place to stay the night.

-This shelter has a place to plug in medical equipment.

-There will be no meals provided at this point at this shelter.

More information will be provided to the public as resources are provided.

Crisis Cleanup

If you need help with damage clean up following Hurricane Helene, call Crisis Cleanup at 844-965-1386

Volunteers may be able to assist with:

-Mucking out

-Cleaning up trees

-Tarping roofs

-Clearing debris

If there is property damage from Hurricane Helene, report it using the

Damage Assessment tool in the SC Emergency Manager app to notify authorities. Download the app on the App Store and on Google

Cherokee County Government offices will be closed on Monday and Tuesday.

Landfill is open Monday - Saturday from 7:30 am - 6 pm. All items must be separated, no mixed loads and everyone must cross scales. No exceptions.

No trash pick-up on Monday or Tuesday. This is for the safety of our employees and to conserve fuel for emergency vehicles.

Cherokee County SD: Cherokee School District has announced the closure of schools on Monday and Tuesday. TBA beyond Tuesday.
