Spartanburg Regional gave on an amazing tour to a few Blacksburg High upperclassmen. They were able to see the Emergency Department, Trauma Center, Radiology Department and learn about hospital management. This trip helped students solidify their career goals. We appreciate Spartanburg Regional's willingness to allow our students to visit!

BHS AVID students toured Gardner Webb University and participated in the Broyhill adventure course team building activities. We had so much fun that just a few pics would no do!
Cherokee County Road Closure: The town of Blacksburg will be closing the intersection of US 29 Cherokee Street and S-11-148 Shelby Street to make repairs to a broken water line. Both US 29 and S-11-148 will be closed to through traffic on Thursday, April 20, beginning at 8:00 am. US 29 detour route, Beginning at the intersection of US 29 (W. Cherokee Street) and S-11-190 N. Rutherford Street, turn left onto N. Rutherford Street and travel North approximately 0.08 miles to S-11-794 (W. Church Street). Turn right onto S-11-794 W. Church Street and travel approximately 0.44 miles to S-11-127 (N. Mountain Street Extension). Turn right onto S-11-127 (N. Mountain Street Extension) and travel south approximately 0.04 miles to US 29 (E. Cherokee Street). A groups of BHS junior girls attended the Limestone University Women in Technology and Science event yesterday and were able to participate in hands-on science actions.  They heard an amazing guest speaker: Joan Higginbotham, a retired NASA astronaut, who flew aboard Space Shuttle Discover to become the 3rd African American woman to travel into space. She now has her own aerospace consulting firm, Joan Higginbotham Ad Astra LLC.  Thank you, Limestone for hosting this annual event!
Broad River Electric Cooperative discussed career options in engineering, line work, and accounting with our students. Through simulations, they gained knowledge of these career options.
